Bella Johansson is a designer based in Naarm, Australia, with a practice that flows between the visual and tangible, her interest lies in the intersection of display and experience; a space where the emergence of narrative is aided by design.
Outcomes usually begin with a research-driven approach, often involving the study of archives, mapping and visual language.

Bella has been engaged on projects for editors, makers, directors, designers and institutions, working under the name Somehow Studios since 2014.
The studio direction aims to engage commissioners, clients and collaborators in a process that not only communicates who they are but clarifies what they are.

Engaging in process with an open curiosity and ever-evolving intrigue, that manifests in a multitude of possibilities.

I acknowledge the people of the Woi wurrung and Boon wurrung language groups of the eastern Kulin Nations on whose unceded lands I inhabit and practice on. I respectfully acknowledge their Ancestors and Elders, past and present. I also acknowledge the Traditional Custodians and their Ancestors of the lands and waters across Australia where I conduct my business.
